Sell my Car Alabama
Published on 9/26/2026
Ask people to name a great car state and you'll hear Michigan, California, maybe Texas. Alabama almost never comes up. It should.
This is a state that builds vehicles by the hundreds of thousands every year, hosts the longest oval on the NASCAR schedule, and keeps one of the most impressive motorsports museums on the planet just outside Birmingham. A lot of folks here grew up with a race on the radio on Sunday afternoon and a truck in the driveway that had been fixed more times than anybody could count.
Talladega and the Alabama Gang
Talladega Superspeedway is 2.66 miles of steep banking, and it earns its reputation. The fall NASCAR weekend is set for October 23 through 25, 2026. If you have never stood there while 40 cars come by three and four wide, put it on your list at least once.
The racing roots go deeper than the track. The Alabama Gang, a group of drivers out of the Hueytown area that included Bobby and Donnie Allison and Red Farmer, and later Neil Bonnett and Davey Allison, put this state on the stock car map for good. Ask around and you'll still find people who remember exactly where they were when Davey won the 1992 Daytona 500.
Barber: Motorcycles, Lotus Race Cars, and a Big October Weekend
The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum sits on the grounds of Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, and it says it holds the largest motorcycle collection in the world, plus one of the best displays of Lotus race cars you'll find anywhere. It is a genuinely beautiful building, and even people who don't ride tend to lose a whole afternoon in there.
Every fall the park hosts the Barber Vintage Festival. The 2026 edition runs October 9 through 11, with vintage racing on the track and a swap meet that draws riders and collectors from all over the country.
A State That Builds Cars
Mercedes opened its plant in Vance back in 1997, and the rest of the industry followed. Honda builds in Lincoln, Hyundai builds in Montgomery, and Mazda and Toyota share a newer plant in Huntsville. That means plenty of Alabama families have someone on a line somewhere, and plenty of Alabama driveways hold a late model SUV that was built an hour or two from home.
When the Car in the Driveway Stops Being Fun
Alabama is hard on cars in its own ways. Summer heat cooks batteries and dashboards. Spring storms bring hail and falling limbs. Deer on a two lane county road at dusk don't care how nice your front end used to look. Sooner or later a lot of us end up with a car that isn't worth fixing and isn't worth much to a scrapyard either.
That is exactly the car TrackWala buys. We are a direct buyer, not a scrap buyer, and the goal is a fair price for the car you actually have, whether it's dented, wrecked, or just worn out. You get an offer, we handle the pickup, and you skip the parade of strangers from a listing site. Get your offer at TrackWala.com.
One tip before you sell anything: Alabama handles titles through the Alabama Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division rather than a standalone DMV, so that is the place to check if your title is lost, has a lien on it, or needs a correction.
